Overview
Understanding the Old Testament sacrifices gives us a better understanding of Christ being the ultimate sacrifice for our sin. Some sacrifices are offered as a means of giving thanks to God for blessings. Some, such as the burnt offering, are offered out of obedience to God and meant to expiate sins incidentally. The Hebrew word corban is translated as “sacrifice” or “offering,” but both of these words in English indicate loss. Corban actually comes from a root word which means “to draw near.” The core purpose of sacrifice and offering, according to the Old Testament, is to draw near to God. This five-session course will help you understand the Old Testament offerings.
