Overview
The Da Vinci Code stirred up a lot of controversy over its claims that Jesus was merely human, that Jesus fathered a child by Mary Magdalene - and that the Catholic church has been engaged in a centuries-old cover-up to hide these "facts.” The sequel, Angels & Demons, has a narrower focus, and is rooted in the notion that church and science have been at war since the Renaissance. A man claiming to represent the Illuminati has threatened to blow up Vatican City and all of the church's cardinals with it - so the Vatican reluctantly asks skeptical "symbologist" Robert Langdon to follow the clues and find the bomb before it's too late.
This guide will help you discuss some of the questions raised by this film. When is tradition essential to our well-being, and when might it be harmful? Are there limits to our knowledge, and how should we define them? And how do we discern God's will and our role in its unfolding?
